Creative Musician, Facilitator and Technologist
let us play...
One of the things I am most interested in exploring in my work is the idea of play and curiosity. These are the fundamental ways in which we learn to navigate nature, our bodies, social engagement, the accumulation of knowledge and the nurturing of our creativity, yet at some point many of us simply stop doing it and then perhaps forget how to at all. Whether working alone or in collaboration I strive to create work that reawakens that sense of wonder and invites people to approach or participate without restraint or judgement, only freedom and curiosity. A child never questions how something should be played with, they just do.

I genuinely believe that you don't have to look very far at all to find interest in anything and as a facilitator or mentor I encourage people to ask the questions they keep to themselves, to tug at the threads of inquisitiveness, to explore 'what happens if...' and to find excitement rather than fear in the unknown.

Below are some recent projects I have been working on.
nucleosynthesis
Nucleosynthesis is an interactive sound sculpture and instrument that can be played by one or many people. Made in collaboration with a pupil at Dunbar Grammar School, it made its debut at the Dunbar Uprising Festival where it proved a fun and engaging installation with both young and old!
PLAYABLE moss garden
The playable moss garden encourages us to explore this fascinating plant through touch and sound. Hinting at the worlds contained within and inviting a sense of calm, this piece merely draws our attention back to the legacy that moss already holds, and that humans have known for thousands of years
sensory touch pads

A customisable instrument featuring a bank of sensory touch pads. Through design of the housing, the pads and the function it can truly become something that is designed for or by a single user; a project that can be seen through conception to completion and provides ample opportunity for creativity and self-expression.
