Sonic Scenes

Sonic scenes is a project that explores how sound can contextualise place, the memories it can hold and the things it can unveil. It can create depth, add meaning, bring peace or reveal discomfort that lies beneath the surface.

Using touch sensing technology we can turn a simple scene or image into a sonic playground. It is possible to expand dimension, create a world and provide the means to explore it. With considered programming we can move between dimensions and explore the liminal spaces that exist only on the fringes of reality or entirely in the abstract.

There are many different approaches to this project; inviting people to share a place that holds meaning to them and put that meaning into sound, capturing a place as a memory, taking an image or piece of art and creating a fantasy world, rich in sonic and musical texture – exploring the possibilities of the unseen and the unknown.  We can also use this idea as a composition tool,

creating a visual score and playing it.

Engaging further senses we can give images texture and depth, using natural or synthetic materials to evoke a deeper sense of place and understanding.  This is a concept rich in possibility.
